Jeanette Spicer works with photography, video and mixed media collaboratively with her subjects to raise questions around intimacy, physical and psychological boundaries, and the body as it relates to space.

Spicer has been awarded a number of residencies in the US and Europe, including Vermont Studio Center, The Wassaic Project, and Benaco Arte in Italy, among others. Spicer’s first monograph, “Sea(see)” was published in 2018 by Kris Graves Projects. She has shown work Globally, and has had her work published in the New Yorker, Dazed Magazine. Recently she covered NYC Pride for the 50th anniversary of Stonewall for NYCgo. Spicer is a co-editor of a dyke publication, WMN, showcasing marginalized communities of lesbian art and poetry. She has worked as the Education Manager at Magnum Photos, where she led workshops with renowned photographers such as Antoine d’Agata and moderated a talk at Aperture Foundation with Bieke Depoorter and Susan Meiselas.  Currently Spicer is an adjunct professor at The International Center of Photography, and School of Visual Art.
